The sloping fastback roofline and athletic proportions of the EC40 are brought together in our signature Scandinavian style. Elegant. Understated. Distinctive. But there’s more to the EC40 than style. The silhouette is streamlined for a striking appearance while also housing sensors. The colour-coordinated shield on the front looks contemporary, even forward-looking. It also helps lower air resistance for improved energy efficiency. And wider rear wheels add to the car’s confident stance while optimising handling and control.
Two rear spoilers enhance the streamlined crossover design of the EC40. Positioned at the roof and tailgate, the spoilers work in harmony to boost aerodynamic efficiency, range and driving stability. The integrated rear diffuser further improves handling by increasing downforce and minimising drag.
The EC40 offers a range of wheel options, ranging up to 20-inch in size, with all designed for aerodynamic efficiency. Choose between a glossy black finish or a diamond-cut style that that combines polished aluminium with sleek black accents. The diamond-cut styles feature sharp angles to create an illusion of larger wheels with extended spokes, while glossy black inserts provide a striking contrast against the aluminium surfaces.
The EC40 packs comfortable seating for up to five people and a spacious boot into a sleek, performance-inspired package. And while it has a confident stance, its compact size makes it practical, especially in urban areas.
Our signature Thor’s Hammer headlights automatically adapt the light pattern to optimise your vision without dazzling other drivers. Using responsive pixel light technology controlled by a front-mounted camera, each headlight unit’s 84-pixel LEDs can shade out up to five vehicles simultaneously – whether they’re coming toward you or in front of you. The headlights also turn with you when you steer through a curve, illuminating the road ahead.
The boot of your EC40 can hold 404 l. Fold down the rear seat backrests to bump that up to a maximum of 1 310 l, including a 59-litre compartment under the boot floor. The inner wheel arches are pushed out of the way to widen the boot and create a flat floor. Lower the boot floor to stow heavy or bulky items – it’s simple enough to do with one hand. The power-operated tailgate opens with the touch of a button outside the car or on the centre display. At higher equipment levels, you can use your key fob or the Volvo Cars app.
